Nepomuk and virtuoso. The KDE framework knows about these and how to start them. KDEPIM knows how to start akonadi, but not nepomuk and virtuoso, As you point out this code is not running in e17. The beast that is KDEPIM today drove me from kmail after 7 years into the waiting arms of claws-mail.
