I forgot to say that this behaviour above takes place when there is no network 
on.  When Kmail tries to connect to my mail servers it returns an 
error/notification that it could not connect.  Could it be that this clashes 
with e's notifications?  BTW I do not use e's Notifications, so I'm not sure 
that this logic is true.

If you give me a rev. number I could revert back to that and test that the 
problem's gone.  That could prove the point I guess.
