Yes, I noticed the same behaviour.  I have gkrellm starting at boot and the 
cursor moves to it rather than staying a the center of the desktop as it used 
to.

In addition, when pop ups come up in an application (e.g. a browser) the 
cursor does not slide to them any more.  This is just a visual effect, because 
the pop up still comes into focus and I can e.g. enter a password.  However, 
it creates extra work if I have to click cancel or OK, because now I have to 
use my mouse over a longer distance.

I preferred it as it was before ...
