looking at what you have there... my instincts say "driver bug".

fglrx did you say? once upon a time in a land far far away i had a radeon card.
i used fglrx because the open src drivers didn't work on it... i have since
sworn never to have anything to do with ati goop again. ever. that's how bad i
consider those drivers.

it looks like a framebuffer bug - it seems to be picking up some "old" buffer
somewhere in video ram - possibly the fbcon framebuffer (and that's why u see a
green suse logo - and my bet is thats what shows at boot time - right?). also
prior to switching buffers, it seems to flip the framebuffer between linear and
tiled mode or between different tiled modes. the tell-tale blocky patternings
say that, and that alone already screams out "driver bug", as this is a deep
down framebuffer layout mode totally out of the control of any app or
compositor. the fact we get a totally unrelated bit of screen content
(e doesn't know about this bootsplash image at all) is another hint telling me
it's a driver bug (it's not something e can get wrong as its totally outside of
its knowledge). the third thing telling me is... fglrx. get rid of that junk as
soon as you can.
