Hi thanks for replying - I usually don't use a password for mpd, as I don't allow outside connections to it usually. I actually launch mpd as a user too not as a system-wide, but I don't think that's important - mpDris connects to it, I know that much because I get notifications off it (And don't have any other notification daemon attached to mpd)
It just seems to be the module not wanting to connect to it! And yes, the Arch AUR compiles the modules-extra-svn from source, so it should in theory be the same as what you've got. I'm going to try those lines in .xsessions and restart. Out of interest, do you have mpDris 1 or 2 installed?
