I have been using composite on a EEE 701 PC for years now. It's fast
and nice there. So I have some doubt on getting E much less usable on
legacy hardware. You will have to define it.

More over moving to always composited open a lot of possible
optimization to reduce memory usage and cpu usage that is just insane
to do now.
