Hi,

I still have the problem of E17 being reduced to a black screen and
hi-lit mouse cursor if blanking is enabled on E17 and I return to it
after a few minute switch to a VT.

I have further observed that when switched to VT, E17 load on top
drops to 0. If an elementary player is left playing during the switch,
the sound stops after a few seconds, except when "vlc" backend is
used. The load of the application running the player does not drop to
0, but e17 does.

Upon return, with disabled blanking, there is a rush of video before
continuing - the video had not stopped or suspended. With blanking
enabled, upon return one sees a screen frozen at the time of the
switch-away, which quietly fades to black; and a KILL is the only way
out.

I don't know if others face this problem. My video driver is 'nouveau'
on a nVidia GeForce 9400 GT card. I do know that nouveau is not very
mature at handling power-save features - but I'm running a workstation
with quite some oomph.

Can anyone suggest a solution or any way to track down the annoying problem?

Arvind
