Yup, I just read the C3 CLI config guide. It did not mention anything about
ICMP for VRRP addresses.

Thanks,

Hi Lamine.

Here the notes from the KB Article 9274. C-Series does not support ICMP-Reply.

 Products

    SecureStack C3

    SecureStack C2

 Protocols/Features

    VRRP

 Symptoms

Does not reply to ping directed to VRRP IP address

 Cause

The SecureStacks do not support the functional equivalent of the DFE's
'master-icmp-reply' command,

so will only reply to such a ping if the IP address matches a "real"
interface address on the current VRRP master router.

 Solution

This is FAD (Functions as Designed) - To submit an enhancement request,

Unfortunately, I dont have this command in the config mode.

->router(Config)#router vrrp

->router(Config-router)#?

exit Exit from routing protocol configuration mode

no Negate a command or set its default value

preempt Configure the router to take over as master virtual

                         router

This is from my N7:

 router vrrp

  create vlan 106 2

  address vlan 106 2 10.205.106.1 0

  master-icmp-reply vlan 106 2

  enable vlan 106 2

Is there a similar "master-icmp-reply vlan 106 2" command on the A/B/Cs?

Thanks,

Lou Goddard

Subject: [enterasys] PB Pinging VRRP virtual interface

Hi,

I've configured VRRP on 2 C3 which are connected Access switch (A2&B3).

VRRP works fine and I can reach servers outside the LAN.

The problem is that I can't ping the VRRP virtual interface (neither form a PC
which is configured with a default gateway as the VRRP virtual interface nor
from the C3 which is a master router
 nor from any other switch/router)

Is that normal??? should I activate anything? with Cisco it works fine and I
can ping the virtual interface.

Thanks for your help.

Regards,

Lamine
