Unfortunately the way bookmarks work has changed too much, and my ideas don't work anymore.
If anyone wants to see what I was trying to do, it's here: https://github.com/mkaply/remotebookmarks Some extension developer could probably pick it up and make it work pretty easily, but I don't have the time. Honestly, though, I don't think anything like this will work in WebExtensions anyway, so it would be a temporary fix. Sorry I don't have a better answer.
