This is going to happen from June 13th with the release of 52.2.0.
About the update itself, by default (ie you are not using your own deployment system), Firefox pings our update servers to detect if there is a new version available or not. If there is, a binary diff is going to be downloaded, and the local version updated. Hope this helps Sylvestre
