Title: Re: Two new bugs in Entourage
My original message, although well intentioned and with a valid point or two, must have been really poorly written because it:

1. Offended Paul
2. Confused Dave
3. Resulted in differing interpretations by Alan and Paul over a side issue.

I never thought I could do so much harm with a simple bug report, so it must have been a real whopper of a mistake. Again, I apologize to all concerned and repeat that no offense was ever intended. It was written tongue-in-cheek, but not expressed well enough for that to come through. So, in the interests of clarity and repairing my damaged relationship with all you good guys on the list, I will issue the following clarifications.

David,

My original message said

To the MUB group:
Well, the bugs aren't any newer than Entourage. It's just that I only just found them. Please add them to your list of "Things the Beta Testers Missed and Reasons Why We Don't Pay Them"

I meant to say that the MBU should add the bugs to its list of “things the Beta Testers missed and Reasons why We [meaning the MBU] don’t pay them.” Although it was intended just to be a humorous way of referring to your bug list, it just didn’t come out well.

Paul,

I would just like to repeat that I wasn’t intent to be accusatory or to denounce OQV – I was trying to make a [obviously failed] humorous reference to how even great things like the Mac can fail to really make it easy for a program to work “perfectly” despite all the programming that went into Entourage and all the debugging efforts supplied by the Beta testers. Thanks so much for your latest script to add the Business name to the Last Name.

Allen,

Actually, while my original message was primarily about something else, you accurately picked up on my point about how much faster it is to find a message by the method of highlighting the first record and then just typing. As my database is now down to 1350 records, I think that your reported time is very consistent with my experience, given the difference in our machines. But I still have something of a delay if I double-click the entry which appears. Using an AppleScript that merely issues the command to open the record is instantaneous even on my machine.

Thanks to everyone on the list who helps to make this such a vibrant discussion.

Bruce
