Great thanks for SMTP Location E 1.1,Actually, there was a bug in v1.0 and 1.1 that Jason O’Grady discovered. It will show up if you have any advanced settings on any account. If you go back to my website (URL below) you’ll now find SMTP Location E 1.2 which fixes the bug.
now I have another script question. On the script “Send a vCard E” I need to change the path to the vCard, because I have OS X Public Beta loaded, it has to be “your hard disk name:Mac OS 9:Documents:Microsoft User Data: Entourage Temp:name.vcfAfraid not. My scripts are not designed to work with Mac OS X beta. The applescripting is not finished in X beta. It’s possible that in OS X final, there will be an implementation (as there should be) so that constructions like “path to desktop” in Classic apps will immediately be interpreted as “your hard disk name:Mac OS 9:Desktop Folder:” and “your hard disk name:Documents:Microsoft User Data: Entourage Temp:name.vcf” will immediately be read as “your hard disk name:Mac OS 9:Documents:Microsoft User Data: Entourage Temp:name.vcf”. If so, I don’t want to add an extra “Mac OS 9” now because then it will error in X final.
If you want to, you can change it yourself in your own copy. About 90% of the way down the script (shortly before the end) you’ll see a line:
set thePath to ((path to startup disk) as string) & "Documents:Microsoft User Data:Entourage Temp:" & myName & ".vcf"
If you’re certain that your description of the change is accurate (I don’t have OS X beta), then change the line to:
set thePath to ((path to startup disk) as string) & "Mac OS 9:Documents:Microsoft User Data:Entourage Temp:" & myName & ".vcf"
Good luck.
65 or so scripts (including SMTP Location E 1.2) for use with Entourage and Mac OS 8.5 through 9.04 (and probably OS 9.1 beta) can be found at
