Here's one that has me stumped.

Was surfing around yesterday in IE 5 with Entourage running in the
background. This is on a PB 400 running OS 9.0.4. IE kept quitting all
morning, forcing me to restart every few hours. Eventually, it wouldn't
relaunch after I restarted.

When I selected IE from the Office Manager menu (yes, I still use it) it
launches then disappears after the splash screen says it's "Initializing
Internet Services." If I launch IE from the Finder directly, it crashes at
the same point but this time presents me with a "The application... quit
because of a Type 2 error" dialog.

Entourage presents the exact same behavior. A fresh install of Outlook
Express (from download) also crashes. Other Office 2001 apps launch normally
with no errors. Other Internet apps (Netscape 4, 6, Fetch, Transmit, WebSTAR
Admin, etc.) work with no problems.

Here's what I've done in attempting to fix the problem:

Ran Microsoft Internet Self Repair
Ran the Office 2001 First Run application
Uninstalled all MS stuff from System Folder (Extensions, Control Strips,
Prefs, MS Preference Panels, etc.) and reinstalled using Self Repair and
First Run applications
Booted from another partition and run IE and Entourage from the problem
partition with no problems
Searched for hidden IE cache files and deleted them (cache.Ick?)
Repaired the drive with DiskWarrior and TechTool Pro.
Rebuilt the desktop
Installed a new copy of IE 5 from www.microsoft.com

I'm pulling my hair out here. Anyone have any ideas? TIA.

If switching to a single OS saves money, how come no IS manager going
all-Windoze has EVER asked for a cut in budget and/or staff?
