Thanks Robert. I also like storing my attachments elsewhere (so as to not loose them), and your question caused me to look at the Rule Actions and I found the Save Attachment action. I now have a Rule to check all incoming messages and to save any attachments in folder called E-Mail Attachments.

In the database, in a way that the database can find them from the message, and that’s the only way you can, too. If you don’t like that arrangement (which permits linking to contacts, messages, etc. etc.) then you can get my script Save/Expand Attachments E at
