I can't speak for Ric, but I use a similar setup (US 9.0.4 with Canadian-ISO
keyboard) and there are a couple reasons I, personally, prefer to use
english/US software although I use a keyboard layout that allows easy access
to accented characters.
First, I would rather have all my software on any given computer in the same
language, whether is English or French.
I don't like waiting for OS upgrades or, especially, bug fixes to be
available in French.
Also, I've never seen a localized version of an app or OS actually fix bugs
that existed in the US version, but I've seen localization introduce bugs.
Finally, some badly written apps expect a US OS and running such US apps on
a French system can be problematic, although usually running French apps on
a US OS will not cause problems in my experience.
The shortcuts involving [ and ] have always been troublesome for user with
non US keyboards and having the possibility to customize these shortcuts
would be very much appreciated.
In a perfect world, I would like to be able to use any available keyboard
layout the ships with the MacOS without loosing functionality, but of
course, assigning keyboard shortcuts and having some sort of coherence
between the Office apps must be quite a challenge even when taking in
account only one keyboard layout.
I would think that allowing in Entourage the same customizations options
Word offers would make everyone happy.
