Palm synch

Title: Palm synch

I’ve been following the Palm synch threads with great interest. I’ve imported my Palm desktop data into Entourage, and recently I decided it was time to try synching this data with the handheld using the Entourage conduit.

The problem I’m having is that the synch seems to give up before it even starts. With the HotSync manager configured to use the local printer/modem port on my WallStreet rev2 G3 PowerBook, I push the synch button on the cradle. The HotSync dialog comes up, it establishes the connection, and gets as far as “Identifying User” before the dialog goes away. No error appears on the Mac side, but I get a “Connection was lost” error on the Palm device.

The user name appears to be the same, so I’m at a loss as to what might be causing this to happen. Does anyone have any suggestions?
