Ian,
may be you are suffering from the "corrupted additional headers" problem.
Go to <Extras> - <Accounts>, delete your mail account and re-create it from
scratch.
another possibility, there might be a problem with the server itself,
especially if you are connecting against a corporate messaging system
(Exchange server or similar).
if re-creating your mail account doesn't help, you might want to
provide headers of an incoming message to this list for full analysis.
