Here's a script that uses the "forward" method for you:

set c to current messages

set aMsg to item 1 of c
on error
display dialog "No message selected."
return
end try
set newMsg to forward aMsg without opening window
set t to content of newMsg
delete newMsg -- Moves to Deleted Items
delete newMsg -- Really delete it.
set p1 to (offset of "------ Forwarded Message" in t) + 25
set p2 to (offset of "------ End of Forwarded Message" in t) - 1
set t to text p1 thru p2 of t
end tell
display dialog "Message copied to clipboard."
set the clipboard to t
