Thanks Allen. You sent a great and comprehensive response considering that
it isn't even your script. I've been reluctant to contact John because of
his stroke, but perhaps I will leave a message on the eMA list for him.

I suspect that there is a bug either in the Entourage scripting, in
AppleScript itself, or a "weird" corruption in the database which triggers
an inaccurate error message.
