Please forgive the long post.

I have experienced many of the same problems as others with my B&W G3 ( 400
MHz, 384 MB RAM, Mac OS 9.0.4, Pam Desktop 2.6, Hot Sync 2.6.1) freezing
during hotsync. Everything worked flawlessly for quite some time until
early last week. I don=B9t know what may have changed (I am an upgrade junki=
e
- I add and update software quite frequently). I've tried everything I=B9ve
seen suggested here and elsewhere:

Uninstalling Office Completely (except my data)
Uninstalling the Palm desktop software completely
Deleting all preferences
Restarting and emptying the trash
Reinstalling all of the above from the CDs or downloads
Advanced rebuilding of the Entourage databases
Hard reset of the Palm and trying to overwrite the Palm completely with the
data from Entourage
Zapping PRAM
Rebuilding Desktop
Running Norton and Techtool
Looking for extensions conflicts with Conflict Catcher
Rebuilding desktop files
Increased memory on all related applications (hot sync, conduit manager,
etc.) to 9216k
Deleted all but the last 12 months of calendar events
Deleted all recurring events

Regardless of what I do, I am unable to complete a sync and the computer
freezes and requires a restart from the reset switch.

I have determined that everything syncs perfectly EXCEPT the Datebook /
Calendar. If I select =B3Do nothing=B2 on the Calendar sync everything else
runs fine and the sync is completed. If I try to sync the calendar, the
sync runs through everything else but when the display on the Palm indicate=
s
that it is trying to sync the Datebook, the B&W G3 immediately freezes -
no mouse or keyboard input is possible, and the hard restart from the reset
switch is required.

I can hear it coming =AD =B3Well, maybe your calendar database is corrupted and
you should delete it and start over.=B2 This is not a good option, as I=B9m sur=
e
you understand. Very active calendar =AD enormous task trying to reconstruct
it =AD with little assurance it will work after that.

Not to confuse things, because this may be completely unrelated, at about
the same time I began having problems with my General Controls control
panel. Whenever =B3Show Launcher at Startup=B2 is checked, the computer crashe=
s
every time at startup (while the startup icons are still marching across th=
e
screen). The Launcher works fine if I open it after startup, but crashes
the computer every time if it is selected in General Controls.

As I said, it may be completely unrelated but both things began happening
at about the same time

I=B9m at my wits end - any suggestions?
