You are almost certainly wrong.

But, as it's pretty much the same team of people doing the work, we will
almost certainly see a delay on Entourage Classic as they work on Entourage
on X.

What you've got to ask yourself is "What course of action maximizes
Microsoft's revenue stream?" That will almost certainly be the one that
they follow.

If I were Microsoft, I'd sometime soon toss an update to Entourage Classic
over the wall after ensuring that it was fully compatible with MacOS 9.1.
That ensures that they have an entry in both the MacOS Classic market and
that people running MacOS X don't go looking at their competitors products.

Then, I'd work my development teams to death to ship a MacOS X version as
quickly as possible. Doing so will undoubtedly help cement the relationship
with Apple, will get Microsoft products listed as BTO options on all the
appropriate machines, and as "standard" options on many machines.

And since even the people who get the software for "free" will often pay to
upgrade, with each machine that ships with Microsoft software pre-installed,
Microsoft has added yet another future revenue stream element.

This is all speculation. But I'd be surprised if it was far wrong. ;-)
