I don't believe anybody has been asking for free lunch -- it's the
extra charge early adaptors will have to pay for the upgrade that is
considered questionable.

Charging users who bought Office 2001 within the first four month (~1/3
product lifetime cycle) $299 and granting a $150 rebate to those purchasing
Office 2001 within the following eight month (~2/3 product lifetime cycle)
IMO isn't anywhere reasonable.

Looks like marketing starts running amok slapping their most important
customer base right into the face.

just my $0.02, as my personal interest into Office -- except for
Entourage -- is marginal.
