After a long sleep I went back to MacNN and reviewed that Office-X report
again. Reading more careful this time, my impression is, Browne in fact
announced, the rebate will be granted *all* Office 2001 owners for a limited
period beginning with the shipping date of Office-X.
IMO a rather fair offering -- therefore I apologize for chiming in
to the rants yesterday.
BTW, judging from the comments at MacNN, apparently the majority
of readers got the announcement wrong. Maybe somebody at MS should
clarify who qualifies for a rebate at MacNN
