It's probably nothing to do with either 'date string for' OR 'date string
of', but rather with the 'info for' command, or some other command from
Apple's Standard Additions scripting addition set installed in every OS
since 8.5

Apple have changed the 'mount volume' command in Standard Additions in OS
9.1 so that it "remembers" your password when mounting a remote disk and
doesn't put up an annoying dialog box (there may be no one around if you're
running this from a script). That in turn apparently requires that you keep
the Security extensions enabled: Security Library, Security Manager,
Security Policy Module and Security Storage Module. Anyone with this sort
of problem in OS 9.1 has probably disabled the Security extensions. Put them
back into Extensions folder and restart your computer. Then everything will
work OK.

Apple should put in an informative error dialog about this or no one will
know what's going on.
