I have used many different third-party CDEVs over the years, on half a dozen
different Macs, under a dozen different versions of the Mac OS. I enjoy
tinkering with my systems, and I value the benefits third-party CDEVs
provide, but if you are looking for stability under 9.0.4 or 9.1, especially
if you are using a PowerBook rather than a desktop Mac, try to avoid them.

I would love to use FinderPop 1.9.2 and Kaleidoscope 2.3, for example, but
together they have been problematic for me under 9.1 when using Office 2001
And even MS's own add-ons for Office 2001 have been troublesome for me under
9.1, particularly with Entourage (which I would love to continue using but
find far too slow to be usable on my 400 mHz Pismo).

Frankly, I will continue to add third-party CDEVs to my systems until they
break, then I'll do a clean install and start fresh, vowing never again to
add those enticing little extras but eventually succumbing to their
blandishments I guess I'm just a glutton for punishment.
