Don't know why. I've confirmed this. You don't even have to select any text in the preview pane, just create a new note. I can't confirm (b). If I open the digest in it's own window, then create a new note (not using the script) the window pops back to the top. If I use the script, of course the same thing happens. You're right about the behaviour not originating from the script. I'll just have to work around it.
