This is a bug in Entourage that we are looking at addressing in an upcoming
release. The problem occurs because Entourage is checking to see if you have
new mail in your account since you launched Entourage in the current
session. If there is no new mail, Entourage does not complete the send
operation. To get around this, send mail from another account to your
Hotmail account (or start IE and send mail to the account from the account).
Then wait for the mail to be received before sending. Or you can empty the
Hotmail account cache (right-click the account).

When I try to send from Entourage / hotmail address: it fails and says:
