> No, not for people with ADSL, cable, T1.
Having spent far too much time over the past few weeks attempting to debug
strange problems associated with Airport-like devices and some cable modems,
I've got to say...
The LinkSys <http://www.linksys.com> EtherFast Cable/DSL Routers are
amazingly well-designed and well-implemented products.
If their combined wireless access point/router

is done as well, Apple will soon be forced to lower the Airport's price
point substantially. In addition to being capable of doing just about
everything else that an Airport can do, the LinkSys box is showing up for
between $250 and $275 (instead of $299), has substantial extra software
features, is easily capable of 128-bit WEP (versus the Airport's "64-bit"
WEP), and sports a local 10/100 Ethernet port...
Of course, LinkSys doesn't list Macintosh compatibility...but that shouldn't
matter all that much. The entire box is configured via a web interface and
the documentation is available as *.pdf files; although, you do lose the
printer server feature if you're on a Mac-only network.
