Okay, look. While I love rampant speculation as much as the next guy, maybe
we should all just think about this for a second. There's no way Apple
would release a final OS where the method with with most of their customer
base connects to the internet won't work (remember that most apps for OS X
will be several months behind the release). That would be pointless.
<Best Dennis Miller Impression>
I don't want to get off on a rant here, but....
I've had the public beta since the day it came out. I use all of the office
apps (including Entourage), Internet Explorer (both classic and the one that
came with OS X), plus all the other "usual" internet tools that I use in OS
9.x (ICQ, Fetch, Etc.) they all work in the beta, and they'll all work in
the final release. All of this on three machines (DP G4, PowerBook, and B&W
G3).
Plus, if you recall, the port reflector was only necessary to get around
certain limitations in the public beta with PPP, which was a _known
limitation_ of the beta (til #31279).
No need to spread the FUD. It's kind of like driving by a new building
construction site and saying "I sure hope they decide to put walls on that
building."
Of course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong...

There, I feel better now :)
