Probably the single best place to get started is "The AppleScript
Sourcebook":

<http://www.applescriptsourcebook.com/frames.html>

The above site contains numerous links to other resources, including the
Apple manuals (indispensible) and various mailing list and newsgroup
discussions. There is a scripting guide for Entourage on the MS site,
Mactopia. <http://www.maccentral.com/columns/briggs.shtml> has a nice series
of articles from MacCentral's Bill Briggs, suitable for beginners. Don't
miss the Applescript Guidebook modules from Apple, which are Help modules
that contain clickable links which will copy sample scripts and complete
subroutines to the clipboard so you can paste them into your own scripts.

For scripting any particular application, your best bet is to find a source
of existing scripts and then to plagiarize as best you can! My site (URL
below) and Paul Berkowitz's at <http://homepage.mac.com/berkowit28/> are
good sources for Entourage scripts; Applescriptcentral.com also has most of
our scripts and several by others, as well as scripts for the Finder and
other apps.
