Let me put in a word for the "Applescript for Dummies" book. I bought both
books when I started trying to learn to script. "Dummies" in my view was
the best choice for a starter. As Allen Watson said, the next best step is
get some scripts and modify them. The whole point of a "personal" computer
is to have it work the way you want it to. AS (and its extremely powerful
and helpful front end/alternate OneClick) let you do that.
