It's a trade secret. they're all in the Messages file, with info about
replies, links, etc. also in the Database file.

Regularly copy your whole identity folder, replacing earlier versions.
there's a script around that will do this for you automatically on startup.

They complement each other. The database file has those links info about
messages, and all your other data: contacts, calendar events, tasks, notes,
custom view, categories, etc. etc. The Database cache must keep certain info
easily re-accessible after a Find, for example, in that session of
Entourage, but no one has ever spelled it out.

Yes, yes, yes! In its own Identity folder where you found them. And MUD
folder must stay in Documents. (Or an alias to MUD folder must be there, at
any rate.)

Nope. it's the "monolithic" database that permits all the interlinking of
Entourage data types.
