I have lost my ability to open Entourage, and my searches of the list
archives led me to some good questions that describe my problem, but no
answers to those questions:
All of a sudden, when I tried and open Entourage I first got a, "The
Preferences File could not be opened, The End of file was reached"
message.
I deleted the Entourage preferences, then I got:
"The Preference File could not be opened, Not Enough Memory"
I deleted all the Microsoft Preferences (the entire Microsoft Folder) and
then it let me open Entourage and select another Identity, but when I try
and switch to my regular identity I get the End of File Error again, but
it still writes that identity preference successfully because now when I
open Entourage the little Mac guy in the bottom right corner gives me
the, "The Preferences File could not be opened, The End of file was
reached" error.
I can delete my Microsoft Preferences folder and repeat this process
indefinitely, and I tried rebuilding the database but I could never get
to the rebuild prompt while holding down the option key before the errors
I described above appear. I can rebuild the database if I click on my
other identity, make that default, and then restart Entourage with the
option key, but that identity is empty anyway.
Any ideas on recovering my information?
-Lewis
P.S. In truth, I am still a Claris Emailer user and only use Entourage
for Contacts and Calendaring, but recovering those are still very
important. I've tried to switch but just keep going back to what I know.
