I don't think anyone said it wasn't well supported (at least I didn't), just
that one has to write a routine in order to produce (in my example) the
Jewish  date. There are lots of programs out there that do it, but it is all
a conversion *from* Gregorian to the desired system. According to that
link... 


In the Arabic and Hebrew localized system this has been done [apparently] by
Apple. I can't find the "Guide to Macintosh Software Localization" that they
refer to, however, and I am not running a localized version of the OS, but
simply the Hebrew language kit. Not yet available for OSX....)
