I'd vote for #2 as well.

One of the things I like best about Entourage is that they added a
confirmation dialog to the "Mark all as read" item.  I got bitten by that
one a few times with Outlook, and having the confirmation is wonderful.

Combine that with the fact that you can "Undo" an accidental re-filing of a
message (particularly to the Deleted Items folder), and Entourage is nearly
perfect for me.  

My only remaining request is to set it up so that it doesn't check for email
instantly after awaking from sleep (because it's been more than <n> minutes
since the last check).  When I move from work to home, this always causes me
to have to wait for Open Transport to give up trying to find my work
Ethernet....
