Title: Re: Holiday lists
Try using BB Edit or BB Edit Lite. I just edited a copy of the Holidays file by removing a bunch of countries and the new file showed the remaining countries just fine. I didn’t actually test the import, though.

Subject: Holiday lists
Has anyone tried making a holiday list that imports into a calendar?
I really don't want to add holidays, but eventually I want to couple
Entourage to a database full of dates that I have commitments for.
The O'Reilly book says to make a text file with the holiday name, a comma,
and the date. When I opened the holiday default list that ships with Office,
it has a country header that seems very important -- a country in [] braces
followed by the number of entries for that country.
I can't seem to get this to work.
Oddly, when the default holiday file is opened in Word, it's opened in
Unicode format. If immediately saved, the new file doesn't work (no
countries displayed, thus nothing imported into the calendar). I tried to
save it in every possible format Word (on both MAC and PC) offers (including
text with/ line break, which the Holiday file seems to have), but none of the
formats seem to be the same as the original default holiday file. I don't
have a sector editor, so am not sure exactly why this is so. None of the
newly saved 'replicas' of the Holiday list loads correctly into the
calendar.
Has anybody been able to design their own holiday file? I'm probably missing
something really simple here...
Thanks
