Scripting a schedule

I've been trying to find a way to assign a key combination to a particular
schedule, when Dan C. made the excellent suggestion that I create an
AppleScript that runs a schedule, since I can assign a key combination to an
AppleScript.

The question is how does an AppleScript novice like me script a schedule? ;)
I'm sure this is probably very easy.
