If that's the case they you must have corruption.  Do an Advanced Rebuild.
Give Entourage a lot of memory first - 30 or more MB RAM. But just to be
safe, before doing the rebuild (but after adding memory)   you could make a
new folder at top level, select all the messages in the old subfolder (but I
recommend no more than 500 or so at a time - use shift-command to select)
and move them to the new folder. When they're all moved do the rebuild
anyway.
