I just got a new Ibook :-), and thanks to people here for guiding me to
resources from which I made the decision to get it. I *think* I'm planning
to transfer things from the old to the new by reinstalling instead of just
copying *everything* over. For Office, am I right that if I install Office
on the new computer, run SR1, and then replace the Microsoft Users Data
folder it will create with a copy of the one on the old computer, and ditto
for the templates folder, I'll now have my data and everything will be
properly installed? I'm really only concerned with Entourage information
(the main thing of course), and Word and Excel customizing. I realize that
an alternative would be to copy the entire System folder and Microsoft
Folder from the old computer to the new. I just thought that sort of like
moving from one house to another, moving to the new computer would force me
to throw out some stuff I don't use and reorganize what I do! But if I've
missed something in the "reinstall and customize" approach that makes a
"copy everything and maybe eventually do some cleaning up" approach better,
I would certainly appreciate knowing about that before I mess something up!
Also, I haven't yet upgraded to OS 9.2.1 and thought I should probably do
that on both machines. Has anyone had any horrendous experiences with that
suggesting that at least one machine should stay with OS 9.1 for awhile?
:-).
