There are no more effective solutions. Nor do any other email clients, such
as OE Windows, have anything more effective, although it's easier.

Return receipt is a sham. I wouldn't bother if I were you.  As Greg writes,
it's dependent on the _recipient's_ email reader: if it can't respond, or
has blocking in place, you don't get your receipt. You'd be better off using
the phone.
