My method is:
- Switch to the Task Pane
- Cmd-N for a new task
- Tab into the Due date/Remind fields and set them (do you know that the +/- keys, while you're in those date fields, will increment/decrement the dates? Very handy!)
- Cmd-, opens the Category dialog. Typing the first letter of a category name selects it, the space bar checks it.
So, for your task (assuming you’re reading mail):
- Cmd-5 (go to Tasks)
- Cmd-N
- Type the task name
- Click to set Due Date, hit + twice (or whenever the task is really due)
- Click to set Reminder, hit + twice to increment two days
- Cmd-, and then “p” and space bar (if you want to set this as a Personal category)
It’s pretty efficient, but others probably know some more shortcuts.
You can also simply select File->New->Task. OR pull down the “new” button in the toolbar and select task.
