I had a similar problem with OE--couldn't do either a Typical or Advanced
rebuild of data--and I ended up having to trash my "Database" (and maybe
also the "Database Cache") file(s)--in Entourage, they're in the
/users/myusername/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office X Identities/Main
Identity directory. I found, however, that I couldn't just drag the files
out of their directory to the desktop; OE still found them. So I copied them
to a Zip, put the originals in the trash, then logged out and in (otherwise
the trash said they were still "in use"), emptied the trash, and restarted
OE. That fixed my problem; didn't need to reinstall OE. I did end up losing
a day or two of mail (up to my last backup--I restored the database files
from that). HTH.
