>Mac client access to full Exchange server features is something strongly >requested, so I think you can expect that in due course it will be provided.
I refuse to "expect" anything...particularly since our IT group doesn't trust this sort of we-make-no-promises approach to a mission critical app. >In the meantime, you can get good email (via IMAP or POP) and pretty good >iCal access from Entourage, if you don't like using Outlook2001 in Classic. Provided your IT folks will run POP alongside MAPI. Ours won't, because every time they did and a problem occurred, the first response from Microsoft was "turn off POP." It's my understanding that an actual service bulletin from MS has been issued actively advising against running the two protocols together (not that this is surprising or anything). >(Probably the main reason why Apple slowed down development of OS X to >provide the Classic environment was precisely so you _could_ use classic >apps from OS X. Why not make use of it for now?) Because continually pointing out that "we can use Outlook in Classic" only reinforces the notion that it won't be coming to X (not for me, mind you..I don't agree with the thinking, I'm just calling it like I see it), and makes people wonder why in the world they should stay Mac, or on the IT side, why they should bother to support them. IMHO, MS should hand Outlook ESE over to the MBU for further development. Kevin & Co. would do a far better job.
