Title: Re: Name and address autocomplete not working

over a week ago, I posted this on the Word for Mac discussion group and there has been no reply, so I’m posting it here also, since it involves Entourage.

In Word, I go into "View" -> "Toolbars" -> "Contacts."  At the right of that toolbar, I click on "Address Book."   This shows all the addresses from Entourage. Fine.  However, there's a problem:  If I look on the left of the Contacts toolbar, there is a window that allows me to type in a name.  Immediately to the right of that window is a drag down arrow.  I drag down and it only shows the
names beginning with "A" from my address book.  If I type in any other name, that doesn't bring up a name.  How can I get this window to show all the names (or does it need to) so autocomplete works with all my names?  Does autocomplete only complete names you’ve typed once before, or is it supposed to draw on all the names in the Entourage address book?

I did respond to it in the Word newsgroup, Richard: at 2/10/02 10:55 PM PST. It's a bug. It's not actually restricted to the letter "A": mine get as far as "E". I probably have a much smaller Address Book than yours. I have reported the bug to the proper Word MS team.  (I haven't got an acknowledgment from them yet, BTW.) As a workaround, if you type in 3 or 4 letters, you should get a shorter list of appropriate names, just as in Entourage. Do you not?

This one doesn't really concern Entourage, just Word. But if you never saw my reply - that concerns Entourage. Perhaps, like me, you only get 50 or so new news message headers at a time, but maybe this time left at a couple of days before checking the newsgroup? I that case you would have missed my reply. If you sort by Subject (as I do) you  would not realize there was a gap between your last downloaded message and the new ones. You can click the "More" button in the toolbar to get more news article headers (it works backward chronologically on the server and shouldn't re-download messages you already have.) Or you could change your settings in  Tool/Accounts/News/Options to get more headers at a time.
