Just a little heads up

Microsofts Intellimouse drivers for OS X have arrived and they dont quite
fit the OS X paradigm which caused me more than a few minutes confusion. The
prefpane is installed in the root library, not the user's library and it
doesn't actually do anything but call a program to configure the mouse. This
oddness isn't Microsoft's fault, it is the design of the programmer who
created USB Overdrive.

The problem is that the configuration program is called Microsoft Mouse -
which is exactly the same as the OS 9 Control Panel. When I tried to
configure my mouse I was quite confused and then angered when Classic
powered up and then the OS 9 control panel appeared. Obviously it didn't
work!

A few minutes later I opened the applications folder and found the Microsoft
Mouse application there and I immediately twigged to the problem. I renamed
the OS 9 control panel to Microsoft Mouse CP (had to do it again actually
because I had a second copy on another partition) and that solved the
problem.

Yippee! My mouse works perfectly now!

Say you were standing with one foot in the oven and one foot in an ice
bucket. According to the percentage people, you would be perfectly
comfortable.
