Gentlemen: now you've both got me confused.

You mean that I need to quit and restart Entourage for such changes to take
effect. I suppose I could try that, but I would think that over the course
of many weeks after entering some items in my calendar, my Mac has been shut
down several times and Entourage has been launched and quit at least once
daily.

So, if I understand what you're saying, then regardless of when one enters
items into the Calendar, it's necessary to quit Entourage before changing
time zones in your system clock. Then, restarting Entourage will cause
proper behavior?

If that's true, it's something that I think (IMHO) should be added to the
alert message that pops up when you select a different time zone. Such as:
"For best results, quit Entourage and restart after making time zone
adjustments in your system clock"

BTW, Paul's idea is very cool about the computer knowing what time zone it
is in. Presumably, if you had a GPS device and an Internet connection, your
computer's clock could adjust itself based on your current coordinates.
Maybe someday, all airplane seats will have ethernet sockets and the plane's
navigation system will report the current global position to anyone who is
plugged in. Considering all the other high-tech equipment they have on
board, this doesn't seem all that crazy too me.
