This has been discussed on this list before--it's a "feature" of Entourage X. It assumes that if you're using Word X, you use paragraph spacing (in Word, go to Format>Paragraph, select "Indents and Spacing" tab, and put some figure other than 0 in the "Spacing" "After" box) instead of inserting extra returns between paragraphs. You have (at least) 3 choices: (1) Stop using double returns between paragraphs and start using paragraph spacing. (2) Before you copy into Entourage, strip out all double returns in Word: go to Edit>Replace, put "^p^p" (without quotes) in the "Find what:" box and put "^p" in the "Replace with:" box, then find and change all. (3) Use double manual line breaks (shift + return) between paragraphs in word instead of double returns.
