Thanks for the lead, Paul. I do have some scripts running that delete messages from server under Rules control. So, that might explain the larger error dialog, but what about the sudden appearance of this small dialog informing me of every action. It consists of text "UNM (imap): synchronizing offline actions" with a progress bar showing 0 of 1, and a Stop button (god, am I glad I snapped that picture!). It appears on the old IMAP account now every time I check mail, mark a message for deletion, or switch to a different IMAP folder. It never used to appear. I am not working offline.
