Title: Re: Compacting Entourage Databases
On or near 7/3/02 1:45 PM, Lauren Frede at [EMAIL PROTECTED] observed:

I just did a major clean-out of my Entourage and afterwards I tried to compact the files, however when I hold down the option key and start Entourage I get an error message that tells me to quit all Microsoft programs before I can begin.  I do not have any other MS programs open – or any other programs open, for that matter.  I even shut my computer down completely and then tried again.

Does anyone have any suggestions?  Thanks for your help.
Lauren

Common problem. You DO have another application open, it is just hidden. It is the Microsoft Database Daemon.

You can quit this program by writing a one line AppleScript in Script Editor, and running it:

tell application “Microsoft Database Daemon” to quit

Try that. Alternatively, try restarting with no extensions (hold down the Shift key).
