Is there an easy way to get my mailing list rules to apply to my IMAP account? (Why don’t they automatically?)I'm not sure if you'd consider it easy or difficult: upgrade to Entourage X. IMAP is difficult and complicated - this little application has to control precise events miles away on a remote server. When MLM was designed for Outlook Express 5, IMAP was taken much into account. By the time of Entourage it ha become important to many institutions, and was made a high priority or the application. All sorts of IMAP features are very much improved in X.
And, on an earlier point, I created the duplicate account in order to have different personal info be displayed. Now I receive every message twice, once for each “account.” Is there no way to avoid this?1) You could make an IMAP rule for the second account to delete every message as it comes in
2) You did this wrong. You could have made the second account as a so-called "POP", but actually SMTP-only account. Delete the one you have, make it again as a POP account (manually, not with the assistant) but don't fill out anything for POP server, just SMTP and the personal data. Ignore the alert that comes up when you close. Your sent messages won't be saved on the other account's Sent Items folder, but rather in you local Sent Items, but you can make an Outgoing Rule to save them somewhere else.
What’s so great about IMAP again?
It's perfect for people who travel or have more than one computer. All their mail, including Sent messages, are in one lace accessible from wherever they are. It's not really meant for people using one account to adopt a second persona: somehow that doesn't strike me as a serious use f IMAP. It works fine if you have two real accounts.
